It’s a rainy day today. I experienced the first rain in Lahore after staying here for almost 2 weeks. And I’m leaving today.
Leaving Pakistan. Engaging India. |
Together with Rodion and Andreas from Germany, we were late for the crossing – 1 minute late. The symbolical gates have closed by the time we got there. The Pakistani rangers were kind enough to reopen the gate and let us pass through but we had to use a side door to get in India. As soon as we crossed over to the other side of the border, everything changed. Female border guards with uniform were marching; women were dancing and cheering at the border; school girls wearing skirts were sitting on the kerb, couples in deep passion were holding hand by hand.

Women were dancing at the border closing ceremony (I don't understand why) |
High-kicking action. The higher you raise your foot, the louder the stomp would be. |

See the mustache-filled Sikh-Indian border guard |
Hindustan Zindabad!(Long live India!) |
Note: I know this sounds selfish but hey, I really hate crowd. It’s not only crowded in India but super very crowded….crowded with Indians, crowded with foreigners, crowded with tourists, crowded with strangers, crowded with unprecedented crowds! 印度已经很挤了,你们不要再来了!
I have to admire Mahatma Gandhi for being able to control the 'Indian Crowd' |
