1. Ayodhya – the birthplace of Rama
Excuse: I have just started reading The Ramayana and
it is rude to go there without even understanding the epic. Hahaha…
2. Allahabad – the confluence of three holy rivers – The
Ganges, The Yamuna & The Saraswati
Excuse: Kumbh Mela is over; hardly find anyone to
share a boat to go to the confluence
3. Chitrakut – mini Varanasi
Excuse: Refer Varanasi
4. Gwalior – the spectacular hilltop fort
Excuse: Fort-sick. There are so many hilltop forts in
India. Hahaha…
So I bought an
overnight train ticket from Varanasi to Khajuraho, bypassing all the
above-mentioned places.
