For a start, labelling
Khajuraho’s group of monuments as erotic or sex temples is somehow a misnomer.
While woman and sex appear repeatedly with apsaras
(nymphs) and nayikas (heroines) being
carved into the embellished stonework with a half-twist and slight sideways
lean which make the figures dance and swirl, it is the great skills of the
sculptors during Chandela dynasty that have made Khajuraho one of the finest
sculptures in the world.
