Khajuraho Group of Monuments

For a start, labelling Khajuraho’s group of monuments as erotic or sex temples is somehow a misnomer. While woman and sex appear repeatedly with apsaras (nymphs) and nayikas (heroines) being carved into the embellished stonework with a half-twist and slight sideways lean which make the figures dance and swirl, it is the great skills of the sculptors during Chandela dynasty that have made Khajuraho one of the finest sculptures in the world.

The sheer volume of artwork at Khajuraho can be overwhelming
A nine-person orgy
A horse can be a man’s best friend?
The surasundari (nymph) draped in a wet sari is arguably the most seductive of all. What say you?

The headstand position
Note: Khajuraho Group of Monuments is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site (Cultural Site) inscribed in 1986.
