Qala'at al-Bahrain, currently visible from the Portuguese fort mounted on the mound was once the capital of the Dilmun, one of the most important ancient civilizations of the region.
Note: Qala'at al-Bahrain is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site (Cultural Site) inscribed in 2005.
