Middle Eastern Caucasus

First of all, I never see Caucasus region as part of Eastern Europe, despite Georgia’s tourism propaganda which goes: Georgia – Where Europe starts; despite the favor of European Union(EU) on Georgia; despite the post-Soviet westernization of the capital city in Armenia; despite the fact of Armenia being the first Christian Nation in the world; etc.

It is not because of the German guy – Markus who kept on telling me how friendly the people here are. It is also not because of the Iranian-Israelis-Canadian girl – Shadi’s occasional cry out which goes: ’See, they are so Middle Eastern!’ It is because three of us experienced it vividly when we were here, in June 2011.

From time to time I never short of meeting good and nice people on the road, be it traveler or local people. Nor do I receive care, warmth and hospitability from everybody I met on the road. However, it all get intensified when I spent 5 weeks traveling around in those three countries of the Caucasus region.

Caucasus region is never a part of Europe, ever!
Yerevan, Armenia
Goris, Armenia
